Forklift Lead (Shipping & Receiving Dept)
The Forklift Lead (Shipping, Receiving & Warehouse) is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, and team coordination. This position ensures accurate order fulfillment, efficient workflow, and compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong forklift operating experience and a proven ability to coordinate warehouse activities while supporting and directing team members. In addition to warehouse expertise, strong administrative skills are critical for success in this role, including maintaining accurate inventory records, processing shipping and receiving documentation, tracking performance metrics, preparing reports, scheduling resources, and utilizing warehouse management systems.
This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, along with a commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional customer service through efficient warehouse operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution
· Ability to cover for office administrative clerk in daily transactions using the following systems: SAP, Excel, Outlook and Share Point.
· Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and inspect materials for damage or discrepancies
· Monitor warehouse equipment (Forklift fleet and RFID Antenna) functionality and communicate any maintenance needs to management
· Conduct daily cycle counts for finished goods and daily backlog inventory
· Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently
· Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations
· Organize warehouse layout and maintain cleanliness and order throughout the facility
· Coordinate with production team to ensure timely order fulfillment and report any shortcomings
· Report any shipping or receiving discrepancies, and inventory issues promptly
· Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory replenishment planning
· Ability to professionally communicate verbally or email with internal and external customers
· Maintain shipping and receiving logs, audit reports, and related documentation complete and organized
· Train and develop warehouse staffing to properly operate and troubleshoot scan guns, RFID readers, and properly fill out shipping and receiving documentation
Qualifications· Highschool diploma or GED
· 2 years’ experience working in a shipping & receiving environment.
· Bilingual preferred English required. Spanish preferred.
· Proficient Microsoft office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
· SAP applications a plus
· Previous leadership experience with shipping and/or inventory control systems preferred.
· Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills required.
Working conditions· Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather) and exposure to equipment noise
· Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other devices or objects.
· The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Hearing protection is available.
· Office setting with light dust accumulation.
· Ambient temperatures following external conditions.
· Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist, climb.
· Position type and expected hours of work: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 5 days during the week / 40-hours per week.
· Weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
· A flexible schedule and rotating shifts may be required.
Physical requirements· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds.
